The body of my work is based on the fundamental concept that science and art cannot be separated. To assume a separation denies one the full palette of creativity. All creative work, inspired or contrived, has a science component. Part of the same cultural continuum, these elements have an inseparable relationship. To quote E.O. Wilson, βThe love of complexity without reductionism makes art; the love of complexity with reductionism makes science.β The love of complexity drives my work. Add to the creative palette, time, the fourth dimension, and you have the engine of the poetic. The artists' work is representative of the time they inhabit and therefore must be understood, embraced, and present in all creative work.

These seven paintings are studies for sculptured pieces, in particular, the seven deadly sins. They were used for proportioning the raw wood prior to executing cuts, subtractive carving and or added constructive pieces, and finished in concert with the sculptures. The paintings are 18β x 24β, acrylic and carbon pencil on 140lb French paper and museum framed on acid free backings.
My work for the most part is figurative. The narrative of each abstract piece, therefore, becomes familiar yet elusive to the observer. As with all art, painting, drawing, sculpture, the piece will direct the artist to its final form if one embraces the process. My work is in steel and wood, the wood being from local cedar, white spruce, maple, walnut, beech, and butternut.
